The Editor,

Yesterday evening at 7 p.m., as has become custom each night, my wife and I grabbed our pots and drum and headed to our deck on the 16th floor to show our support for healthcare, front line workers and all those battling this global pandemic in our community.

But last night one thing was different. A police siren sounded, then another, then fire rescue let us know they were there too. It was an awesome display of support. A parade of police and fire rescue vehicles half a block long circled our block twice, as we banged our pots, pans and drums and cheered and whistled our support.

It was one of the most heartfelt displays of support I’ve ever witnessed: hundreds of people thanking our B.C. healthcare and front line workers to the sound of a dozen or so police and fire rescue vehicles, who should also be thanked. My wife and I were left feeling emotional; two words came to mind, pride and community. I’m very proud of our community for pulling together to battle this global pandemic.
