The Editor,

Re. “School district trustees oppose pay decrease” (The Tri-City News, Jan. 17).

“Wow” is the first word that comes to mind after reading the article about the School District 43 board of education’s opposition to pay decrease for trustees. I sure am glad I voted for Jennifer Blatherwick.

If the argument of those opposing the decrease is that they have a big job and heavy workload, what about trustees in Vancouver and Surrey, which are large school districts? How do they get people to fill those seats for so much less?

I would like to see some numbers for the hours worked per month by the SD43 trustees and compare them to Coquitlam city councillors’ hours.

Then, maybe, they could talk about parity.
