The Editor,

This past Sunday my eight-year-old daughter and I took our dog for a walk to Crystal Falls in Coquitlam.

When we reached the falls, she quickly climbed up the rocks ahead of me while I was a bit slower, hanging back with the dog at the pool.

All of a sudden I hear screaming.

It took me a moment to realize that it was my daughter and where it was coming from.

As I looked up the falls I saw her on the rocks just above me, frantically flailing her arms and legs and screaming her head off.

A man grabbed her around the waist and pulled her away from the edge of the cliff she was on and brought her down the hill to me.

She had disturbed a wasp nest and was being attacked by hundreds of wasps. This man risked himself to save her.

I think had he not come along she would have probably lost her balance and fallen off that cliff. I spoke to him briefly, but was a bit distracted and didn’t even get his name. I’m pretty sure I said thank you, but I can’t be certain. I really would like to thank him publicly.

I know he said he had been stung many times as well and I want to make sure that he knows that I and my daughter appreciate greatly what he did and that we hope he is alright.
