The re-elected Liberal MP for Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam, Ron McKinnon, gets a congratulatory high-five from a volunteer at his campaign headquarters in downtown Port Coquitlam on Monday.

The Editor,

Re. "Climate change, affordability and housing key issues, says McKinnon" (The Tri-City News, Oct. 24).

A thank you to the voters of Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam from one of the "three dozen supporters" in Samz Pub Monday evening.

But returning member of Parliament Ron McKinnon did not have a few dozen supporters in the pub last night, he had 19,614 supporters when he really needed them.

The people in the photo at Samz were just a few of the weary but delighted volunteers of the successful candidate in last night's election who inspired them to walk one more block on their tired feet, to make one more phone call with a gravelly voice, to hang yet one more piece of "Ron" literature on an equally weary voter's door.

MP McKinnon is a decent, hard-working man of unquestionable integrity, of grace, of genuine kindness, and every citizen of Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam, whether they voted for him or not, had a good night Monday. Thank you.

Gale Fugere, Port Coquitlam
