The Editor,

Re. "Metro Vancou-ver shakes up garbage tipping fees to tame U.S. exports" (www.tricitynews.com).

When Metro Vancouver shakes up the garbage tipping fees, the locals are going to start dumping everything in any spot they can find - and that could be your front yard or your neighbour's or that of the fellow down the street. You will just wake up and see it and there is nothing you will be able to do about it.

What happened when they started charging $20 per mattress or box spring? More people are just throwing out their excess garbage anywhere.

The only way to stop this is to make the rates more reasonable.
