LETTER: Yes, hike graffiti fines in Port Coquitlam

Re. "PoCo graffiti fine increase?" (The Tri-City News, Feb. 27).

I agree with Port Coquitlam's community safety committee approving a proposal to increase the fine for graffiti from $150 to $300 and with the bylaw manager who says graffiti "is something that offends the entire community."

Areas that tolerate graffiti have more crime and realtors know that graffiti lowers property values.

Why, then, is it rarely removed within 24 hours, as per the bylaw? Should we provide more places for legal street art?
