Letter: Criticizing the 7 p.m. cheer? You're missing the point

Re. “ Letter: 7 p.m. frontline worker cheer is offensive to my sensibilities ” (The Tri-City News, April 12) The Editor, There are a couple of critical letters about the 7 p.m. noise making that are getting a lot of attention.
Cheer for health care workers
Front-line health-care workers at Burnaby Hospital respond to a salute from police, firefighters and paramedics Wednesday in a screen grab from a video posted on social media. Residents in Coquitlam are also being asked to participate in a nightly cheer during the 7 p.m. shift change at hospitals and health care facilities.

The Editor,

There are a couple of critical letters about the 7 p.m. noise making that are getting a lot of attention.

On our street this tribute/connection is a very positive thing. I am waving to neighbours that I’ve never even looked at before. There’s a comfort among us shut-ins that comes from expressing encouragement and gratitude. The few critics are missing the point in this demonstration of support.
