Letter: Poker could help Coquitlam casino bottom line

A letter writer asks: Does the lack of poker games at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam have something to do with decreased revenue?

The Editor,

I read with interest the story "Drop in casino revenue hits Coquitlam coffers." I wonder if reporter Gary McKenna had the opportunity to investigate whether the recent elimination of poker at the casino, which happened around the same time frame, was a factor?

It is worth noting that Richmond's River Rock, Burnaby's Grand Villa and Vancouver's Parq casinos still have poker and poker tables are a big draw for high rollers.

There was even a Twitter account that notified users of waiting list status for the poker tables at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam and there is, indeed, a waiting list at every poker room in the area.

I wonder if reinstating poker or opening a card room at the Hard Rock would remediate the budget shortfall immediately?
