The letter writer says a lack of poker games at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver, on United Boulevard in Coquitlam, may have something to do with reduced revenues there.

The Editor,

Re. "Drop in casino revenue hits Coquitlam coffers" (The Tri-City News, May 16).

I read with interest the story "Drop in casino revenue hits Coquitlam coffers." I wonder if reporter Gary McKenna had the opportunity to investigate whether the recent elimination of poker at the casino, which happened around the same time frame, was a factor?

It is worth noting that Richmond's River Rock, Burnaby's Grand Villa and Vancouver's Parq casinos still have poker and poker tables are a big draw for high rollers.

There was even a Twitter account that notified users of waiting list status for the poker tables at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam and there is, indeed, a waiting list at every poker room in the area.

I wonder if reinstating poker or opening a card room at the Hard Rock would remediate the budget shortfall immediately?
