The Editor,

I know times change and things must move on. We continue to eliminate green space and wildlife habitat in Port Coquitlam (e.g., Dominion Triangle development) and erect monoliths (e.g., the highrise on Shaughnessy Street) as well as plan many other developments for the future. To paraphrase Joni Mitchell, Port Coquitlam's mandate seems to be "pave paradise and put up a parking lot."

But was it really necessary to remove a quaint road sign that has been up for the 25 plus years I have lived in PoCo? Was it only me or did anyone else notice the "duck crossing" sign on Prairie Avenue near Burns Avenue has been removed?

No more ducks in the area due to development, perhaps? I guess it was a sign of the times - and so is its absence.
