The Editor,
Re. "Bike route to connect to NW" (The Tri-City News, June 15).
The United Boulevard overpass was screwed up right at the build stage, maybe even at the design stage. As a result, we have a hairy, high-speed crossover that, as far as I know, has yet to be fatal.
My first experience of this imbroglio was in 1991, when I was cycling home from YVR. Luckily, I had a strong tailwind that got me through without getting killed.
I suggested then that a cycle path should be installed through the overpass, alongside the railway. As far as I know, it was never implemented.
Therefore, I doubt the powers that be will take any notice of the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition's attempt at resolution of this hazard.
