No parking on Coast Meridian

The Editor,

Re. "It's Coast Meridian Highway" (Letters, The Tri-City News, Aug. 5).

As someone who has lived for decades off the top end of Coast Meridian Road, I am dismayed at the traffic mess at the Prairie Avenue/Coast Meridian intersection and avoid travelling that route whenever possible, thus robbing Port Coquitlam businesses of my shopping dollars.

In reference to the complaint in Fay Wright's letter: There may be signs prohibiting parking along Coast Meridian but these are frequently - and seemingly without penalty from PoCo city staff - ignored. Street parking in front of the strip mall and bank just north of Salisbury is particularly annoying; during weekday daylight hours, there are always one to four vehicles parked on a section of street clearly marked with "no stopping" signs.

It seems that scofflaws win in this instance and right-turning vehicles have to squeeze by as they can.
