The Editor,

After receiving a petition against higher density in Coronation Park signed by the majority of homeowners, Port Moody council voted to keep Coronation Park designated as single family homes.

I would like to thank council for listening and addressing Coronation Park neighbourhood concerns. Coronation Park has many seniors who want to age in place, families with young children who want a backyard, and others who want to be in a house and to be close to transit, shopping and trails.

Increasing density in Coronation Park would have put further strain on the already crowded Rocky Point Park and increased traffic congestion in the Ioco and Guildford area.

Thankfully, council is listening to constituents and providing a range of housing options as outlined in the draft official community plan.
