Re. "Endangered status sought," (The Tri-City News, June 13).
I am thankful and pleased Coquitlam councillors chose unanimously to write the letter nominating Riverview Hospital and grounds for the Heritage Canada Foundation's top 10 endangered status.
None of the sites on last year's list was west of the Rockies and in our community there is this incredible site, with a fascinating history of mental patient care from 1913. Research, teaching, housing and treatment facilities for those with mental health issues are some possible future ways of using these grounds.
To break up the site and sell off parts for market housing would take away much of the spirit and history of the place .
