The Editor,
Re. "Late-night transit crucial" (Letters, The Tri-City News, March 2).
TransLink is not my favourite transportation authority by far but its hours of operation are similar to those found in many bigger cities.
With the exceptions of Berlin, where rapid transit run overnight on Fridays, Saturdays and the night before a holiday, and Paris, where rapid transit runs until 2:15 am on Fridays, Saturdays and a holiday's eve, rapid transit in London, Milan, Rome, Tokyo, Osaka, Toronto and Montreal close between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m., depending on the town.
Transit everywhere must be closed for four to five hours at night in order to service tracks, trains and stations.
In Metro Vancouver, as in the towns above, there are a few night bus lines, usually running once every hour.
