The Editor,

Canada celebrated 2012 National Nurses Week last week and Crossroads Hospice Society extends a heartfelt thanks to our Crossroads Inlet Centre Hospice nurses for the compassionate and exemplary care provided to our patients.

Working collaboratively with the inter-disciplinary team, nurses embrace our philosophy of compassionate care that is entrenched in treating the dying with dignity and maximizing patients' quality of life. These nurses work skilfully and tirelessly 365 days a year, 24 hours a day on behalf of our patients. There is special honour in being present with a patient who is on the final phase of their life journey.

Mourning is a natural part of the end-of-life process and our hospice nurses further fulfill their caring role by providing understanding and compassion to patients' loved ones during this difficult time.

We take pride in recognizing the contribution of our hospice nurses in helping us fulfill our mission of offering dignity, choice and compassion to those affected by end of the life experience.
