The Editor,

This week marks National Nursing Week in Canada and on behalf of Crossroads Hospice Society, I would like to recognize the exceptional work of the Fraser Health nurses who care for our terminally ill patients at the Crossroads Inlet Centre Hospice in Port Moody and within our communities.

Working to provide the clinical side of hospice care, the nurses accept the ideal that treating the dying with dignity is our primary concern and maximizing patient's quality of life our single goal. With the emphasis on providing compassionate care that promotes maximum comfort, these nurses work tirelessly on behalf of our patients.

It is clear to us that our nurses have truly embraced the philosophy of hospice care and have come to affirm life and embrace mourning as a natural part of that process. This difficult task is performed with skill, dedication and professionalism.

This week, we celebrate our hospice nurses and recognize their contribution in helping us fulfill our mission of offering dignity and compassion to those affected by end-of-life experience.
