Re. "A big gamble" (Opinion, The Tri-City News, April 25).

B.C. teachers' contract dispute is a great opportunity to take a sober second look at some "traditional" school activities - graduation parties, for example. What is the point of 18-year-olds from average families dressing up as a naive imitation of the rich and famous? Is shouting incoherently from rented limousines the high point of their teenage lives?

This brings to mind all the young North American brides who, for years, wanted to dress like Princess Diana, unaware that she was no Cinderella, taken from a hovel to a palace, but was born in one of the most aristocratic families in England.
