What a difference a year makes: Last spring, Linda Reimer was asking for our votes. She told us she was interested in our views and that she would represent us in Victoria.
A year later, after we entrusted Ms. Reimer with the chance to serve us as our representative in Victoria, she doesn't have time to respond to our concerns.
I am a teacher. I am concerned with the government's role in the stalemate over our contract. Although the BC Liberals tell us they are willing to bargain, their response to every step is to run to the Labour Relations Board to force teachers out of their classrooms, to dock our pay even though we have continued to teach and fulfill our duties and to have exam invigilation and report cards declared "essential services."
I wrote to MLA Reimer to voice my concerns. Her office sent me a response that said she was too busy to respond to my email at that time. I can't imagine what Ms. Reimer is doing. The legislature is not sitting and I haven't heard of any other activities in which she is involved. It is appalling that we elect these people after being courted in a campaign and then are so easily ignored once we are paying their salaries.
