Where's Greens' guy?

I live in the riding of Coquitlam-Maillardville, where we have three candidates in the provincial election. I'm familiar with the NDP and BC Liberal candidates thanks to media interviews and the all-candidates meeting but the Green candidate remains a mystery.

I fail to understand why someone would put their name forward and then disappear. But that appears to be exactly what the Green candidate, Ed Stanbrough, has done. He has not provided information to the local media and when I tried to call him to talk about issues that are important to me, I gave up after getting a strange message that didn't even give his name.

NO-SHOW AT CANDIDATES MEET

The Editor,

I think it is important to be an informed voter, which is why I attended the all-candidates meeting for Coquitlam-Maillardville last week. Thanks to the two candidates who participated for an entertaining and informative meeting.

Unfortunately, the Green Party was represented by an empty chair. I was looking forward to hearing "Ed" but he will remain a mystery. If voters in Coquitlam-Maillardville can show up for such an important community event, surely someone who wants to be elected and has put his or her name on the ballot should have the courtesy to attend.

I'm left wondering what kind of an MLA would a candidate who can't be bothered to attend the only all-candidates meeting in this riding make? There wasn't even an apology from a Green Party representative, adding insult to injury.

For me, it is only a two-way race in my riding: NDP versus BC Liberals. Is this what the Green Party intended all along? If so, why bother?
