Re. "Nexen deal good for our economy" (Face to Face, The Tri-City News, Sept. 28).
I agree that international investment is good for Canada but we as a country should not give it away at any cost. By this I mean investment in the oil sands is proceeding and let's face it, shipping or piping bitumen oil is very risky.
Canada should seek to have any future development or takeover deal to include a new refinery. This would mitigate many of the dangers associated with the shipping of the raw bitumen oil.
Car manufactures now build factories here, why couldn't foreign oil companies build refineries here in partnership with Canada to refine the product and sell it? We all win from this method of business partnership.
