Three Coquitlam homes featured on Parade

Port Moody house also part of HAVAN tour June 9

The 26th annual Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) Parade of Homes will feature 19 homes including three renovations in Coquitlam and one in Port Moody.

The event will be held on Sunday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Tri-Cities locations are:

1582 Regan St., Coquitlam (near Como Lake Avenue and Poirier Street)

Like the other two Coquitlam show homes, the builder was My House Design/Build Team. The house has been renovated to suit the neighbourhood on the outside and fitted with modern interior features on the inside including “a bold black herringbone ceiling detail that draws your eye from entry to custom fireplace,” according to the HAVAN website. “With a high contrast scheme, this dynamic home feels both modern and inviting.”

The main floor has been reconfigured from a house of many small rooms to an open great room design. In addition, “the homeowners now enjoy their private garden oasis year-round, that backs onto a ravine.”

Lots of relocation was involved in this renovation with a kitchen/dining area moved to create a great room and the fireplace moved to an exterior wall that is now framed by large windows to maximize the view.

“This home has a serene transitional feeling with neutral colours and warm wood tones throughout.”

The renovations in this Pleasantside neighbourhood home were to the main floor and include an 11-foot island with a secondary sink and wine fridge, and a two-sided corner gas fireplace. It also comes with an unobstructed, spectacular view of Burrard Inlet.

Although the tour is free donations are being collected at the door of the first house participants visit. HAVAN is recommending $10 per family with the proceeds going to help fund tools, building materials and safety gear for carpentry training programs at secondary schools throughout greater Vancouver.

More information, including locations of all the featured homes, and registration for the tour are available at havan.ca/event/parade. Visitors will receive a Parade passport at the first house that provides detailed information on all 19 homes.
