Mindy McPherson always wanted to be a realtor.

“It’s something that I have wanted to do since I was a kid,” she says. “My parents were in the real estate world and I went with them when they did their deals. It was so exciting for me.”

But when McPherson started out, selling real estate some 37 years ago, she didn't have the modern day conveniences of communication that we have today. She remembers carrying $100 worth of quarters in her vehicle to stop at pay phones along her route to talk to customers.

“It was a lot of hard work at the ground level,” McPherson says, “but you always have to be there for your client.”

Mindy started her career with Realty World and remained with that office for 14 years, in which she was named the top agent in North America for 13 years, and now with Top Producers Realty — McPherson is at the top of her game thanks, in part, to new technology.

“It’s much easier now. I can take a call from my car because of Bluetooth, from really anywhere,” she says while on the road to the Okanagan to see a client. “I can reach people faster, which is what buyers and sellers want because it’s a competitive market.”

McPherson has lived in Mission for over 50 years and is highly knowledgeable about the market in the Fraser Valley, coupled with her 37 years selling real estate gives any buyer or seller an advantage with her extensive experience. She has helped thousands of people negotiate the sale of their home and also connected buyers to their dream homes.

In this hot market, it’s very important to enlist a true local professional to handle the purchase or sale of your greatest asset. McPherson customarily takes clients on tours of the area to point out the recreation centres, schools, grocery stores and cafés so they get a feel for their future surroundings and see the amenities.

McPherson attributes the busy market to when the interest rates dropped after the pandemic lockdown. But because of the high property prices, especially in the Lower Mainland, the listings have been slim recently.

McPherson says “You may be able to sell but where are you going to go? People don’t have a lot of choice sometimes.”

It hasn’t been so fun during the pandemic, though, she admits, as strict social distancing protocols are in effect: face masks need to be on; hand sanitizer has to be pumped; all surfaces are required to be wiped down. It really has changed the way we conduct business. Still, despite the public health orders, McPherson says she’s eager to make matches for her clients.

“People want someone to represent them well,” she says. “They want experience and somebody who is going to work for them to get the job done.”

And, as the top realtor in the Fraser Valley for the past 34 years who’s sold more than 10,000 properties, McPherson knows how to get the best for both buyers and sellers. When asked what makes a good realtor, she says, “Honesty. Integrity. And never ever ever give up.” She adds, “I treat everybody the same. It doesn’t matter to me if they’re buying a mansion or a small home. Everyone is equal.”
