Adanacs dominate Shamrocks in opener of BCJALL final

The Coquitlam Adanacs led 11-1 at the end of the first period and rolled to a 15-5 win over the Victoria Shamrocks, in the first game of their best-of-three league final, Saturday at Coquitlam’s Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.

The Coquitlam Adanacs led 11-1 at the end of the first period and rolled to a 15-5 win over the Victoria Shamrocks, in the first game of their best-of-three league final, Saturday at Coquitlam’s Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.

After the Adanacs opened a 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the game on goals 45 seconds apart by Will Clayton and Thomas Temple. Nick Murray got the visitors to within a goal, but midway through the frame, Robert Hofseth sparked 10 goal run by the hosts that didn’t end until Victoria’s Called Kueber scored just under four minutes into the second.

Clayton finished the game with five goals and a pair of assists, while Colin Munro had five assists. Coquitlam outshot Victoria, 59-35.

The teams will ferry to Victoria for the series’ second game, Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Q Centre. If a third and deciding game is necessary, it will be played next Friday in Coquitlam.

Both teams have already qualified to play in the Minto Cup national championship that is being hosted by the BCJALL at the Langley Events Centre.
