The Coquitlam Express will have to be satisfied with winning the BC Hockey League’s regular season.

Friday, the Canadian Junior Hockey League, that administer’s the 10 Junior-A leagues across Canada, announced the outright cancellation of all hockey activities, including playoffs.

The decision was an escalation of an earlier edict on Thursday to postpone the season.

But in a statement on its website, the league said, “In further consultation with Hockey Canada, it was determined that the cancellation of the CJHL playoffs is an unavoidable outcome.”

After finishing atop BCHL regular season standings with 96 points, the Express dispatched the Langley Rivermen in four straight games in the first round of best-of-seven series. The team was set to start the second round Friday against the Surrey Eagles.
