Freshman Kiara Buono is getting chances, but so far the Centennial secondary grad has yet to score for her Simon Fraser University Clan women’s soccer team.

Unfortunately, neither have her teammates.

The Clan failed to score in its first two matches of the NCAA season. SFU drew 0-0 against Cal State San Marcos on Saturday, and on Monday they were defeated 3-0 by third-ranked University of California San Diego in La Jolla, Ca.

Buono had a shot in the draw and in Monday’s loss, she and teammate Giuliana Zaurrini combined for six of the Clan’s eight shots.

UCSD scored in the 14th, 18th and 41st minutes to earn its fourth straight victory.

SFU will play two more non-conference matches in California this week then return home for a game against Central Washington University on Sept. 26, 6 p.m., at Terry Fox Field in Burnaby.
