The Coquitlam Adanacs spotted the Burnaby Lakers a 5-4 lead at the end of the first period, but then scored the next 10 goals to win their sixth straight BC Junior A Lacrosse League game Wednesday at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex.

Thomas Semple scored four goals and added three assists to lead lead the Adanacs’ attack, while Robert Hofseth and Max Semple each had a pair of goals and three helpers.

In fact, it was Max Semple who opened the scoring for Coquitlam early in the game, but the Lakers quickly replied with three goals in less than a minute to take a 3-1 lead.

The Semple brothers got the hosts back on even terms and then, midway through the period, Trevor Funk put Coquitlam up 4-3.

But again, the Lakers scored goals in quick succession — this time 29 seconds apart on a power play — to reclaim the lead heading into the break. It was the last time they would light the goal light though.

Jalen Chaster made it 5-5 42 seconds after the teams hit the floor for the second period, and the defending Minto Cup national champions were off. They scored three more times in the middle frame, then added six more in the third period.

The result elevates the Adanacs to first place in the BCJALL standings, with six wins in six games. The Langley Thunder also have 12 points, but they’ve played two more games — both of them losses.

Coquitlam will look to extend its winning streak to seven games when they play the Delta Islanders Saturday at the Ladner Leisure Centre. They’ll then host the Victoria Shamrocks on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Poirier.

The Port Coquitlam Saints play the Islanders on Friday, 8 p.m., at the PoCo Rec Centre, and the the Nanaimo Timbermen visit on Sunday at 3 p.m.
