Fox to face Gators for spot in Fraser Valley championship round

The Terry Fox Ravens will play the Walnut Grove Gators tonight, 8:15 p.m., at Terry Fox secondary, with a spot in the championship round of the Fraser Valley AAAA senior boys basketball tournament at stake.

The Ravens, ranked atop the province at the end of regular season play, defeated the Gators, 99-90, in an exhibition game in December. Walnut Grove achieved an honourable mention in the last provincial rankings.

Fox opened their quest for a spot in the provincial championships that begin March 6 at the Langley Events Centre, with a 87-50 win over Enver Creek last Friday at Terry Fox secondary. The Ravens led 26-10 after the first quarter and 46-24 at halftime.

Walnut Grove defeated the Centennial Centaurs last Friday, 82-72, to advance. Centennial will have to beat Enver Creek in their game tonight to stay alive in the Fraser Valley championship tournament.

Riverside, Dr. Charles Best and Pinetree all lost their first-round games, while seventh-seed Heritage Woods fell in the second round, 74-62, to Fleetwood Park. The Kodiaks will have to win their game against Chilliwack secondary, tonight at Lord Tweedsmuir secondary, to advance to another game, to be played Wednesday at Fleetwood Park secondary.
