Langara Falcons blown out by Hurricanes at college hoop nationals

Coquitlam’s Grant Galbraith scored five points as his Langara Falcons lost their opening round game to the Holland Hurricanes at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball championships being held at the Langley Events Centre.

Langara, who qualified for the national championship as its host after finishing fourth in the PACWEST standings, was in tough against the Prince Edward Island team that is ranked atop the country. The Falcons trailed by five points after the first quarter, then 19 points at halftime.

Galbraith, a fifth-year center out of Gleneagle secondary school, hit just two of his seven field goal attempts in 25 minutes of playing time. He did, however, lead the Falcons with nine rebounds.

Langara plays Nomades de Montmorency in a bronze medal quarter-final game this afternoon at 3 p.m.
