Coquitlam’s Jasmine Lew finished third in the women’s long jump competition at the U Sports indoor track and field championships at the University of Manitoba.

Lew’s longest leap was 5.81 metres, that same as second place finisher Katelyn Lehner, of the University of Saskatchewan, but Lehner finished the competition with two more points to take the silver medal.

Lew was ranked second heading into the meet, after she won the Ontario University Athletics championship at York University with a leap of 6.01 metres. It was the second time this season she attained such a distance, becoming the first U of T women’s long jumper to leap that far in 20 years.

Lew’s performance helped the University of Toronto Blues women’s team to a fifth-place finish overall.
