Coquitlam’s Polisi brothers teamed up to score the winning goal in overtime as the Simon Fraser University Clan men’s soccer team defeated Cal State Dominguez HIlls 2-1 Thursday in Lacey, WA.

Marcello Polisi converted a corner kick from his brother, Matteo, late in the overtime. It was his Marcello’s first goal of the season, after he scored three last year.

The win improves the record of 23rd-ranked SFU to two wins and a loss. It was also a nice rebound after the Clan suffered its first loss in 34 games at Terry Fox Field in Burnaby, when the team dropped a 1-0 decision to California State University San Bernardino last Saturday

Thursday, Cal State opened the scoring in the 28th minute and appeared headed to victory until freshman forward Jonathan Kisse got the Clan even in the 81st minute.

Port Coquitlam’s Aidan Bain stopped two shots in the SFU net.

The Clan travel to Hawaii to play a pair of games, against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific universities on Sept. 19 and 21. Their next home game is Oct. 3, against St. Martin’s University.

The SFU women’s soccer plays its first game of the season Saturday in San Marcos, CA., against Cal State San Marcos.
