The Port Coquitlam Eurorite Inferno stretched their winning streak to three games on Sunday, after the U17 girls' soccer team defeated the Vancouver Westside Warriors.

The match was a physical, defensive affair, with the only goal of the game coming off a well-placed free kick by Taylor Parussini in the first half.

PoCo's midfielders also dominated early in the game, with Olivia Sosnowski, Nicole Imai and Aliyah Vasanji keeping the pressure on the visiting team.

Strong defensive play from the Inferno allowed the team to maintain the lead in the second half, despite the Vancouver club's best efforts.

Adara Spavier, Trang Ledo and Jamie Campbell kept the Warriors out of PoCo's end in the later parts of the game, limiting them to just one shot on net.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS FOR WILDCATS

The Coqutilam Wildcats moved into a tie for fourth place in the Lower Mainland Division after winning their third straight peewee football home game at Mackin Park on Sunday.

Both Ethan Shuen and Keyshaun Dorsey had touchdowns in the 12-7 victory over the North Surrey Hawks, led by quarterback Sebastian Bernat.

The club's defence was also strong, with Shuen, Dorsey, Isaiah John, Kyle Huish and Dominic Boulanger-Porta slowing down the Hawks' attack for most of the afternoon. Surrey only managed a single touchdown during the late stages of the game.

Coquitlam has been strong at home all season and will play the remaining four games at Mackin Park.
