The Terry Fox Ravens have advanced to the second round of their own Jonathan Taylor Legal Beagle senior boys basketball tournament.

The host Ravens came from 14 points down to defeat W.J. Mouat of Abbotsford, 74-66, in their opening round game on Thursday. Terry Fox came into the tournament ranked fourth in the province, while Mouat is ranked 10th.

Grady Stanyer scored 15 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for the Ravens to earn recognition as the player of the game.

The Ravens will play their semi-final tonight at 8:30 p.m., at Terry Fox secondary school in Port Coquitlam, against the winner of Friday afternoon’s game between Tamanawis and Oak Bay.

The tournament, which features eight of the top ten ranked teams in the province, was capped on the first day by an upset of top-ranked Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers, who fell to the Kelowna Owls, 107-84.

The tournament’s championship final will be played at Terry Fox on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
