Rivalry games a tale of four teams

The Tri-Cities’ two high school senior football teams won’t have much more than civic pride on the line when they play their annual crosstown rivalry game Friday, 7 p.m., at Coquitlam’s Percy Perry Stadium.

The game concludes a regular season in which the Terry Fox Ravens and Centennial Centaurs have just one win between them.

The Ravens lost for the fifth time in six games, 36-0, to Kelowna, while Centennial remained winless after they fell 21-7 to St. Thomas More in a doubleheader of BC Secondary Schools Football Association games last Friday at Percy Perry.

The schools’ junior varsity teams will have more at stake when they play each other Thursday, 2 p.m., at Percy Perry.

Centennial and Fox each have two wins and a loss in three conference games. They’re tied for second place in the AAA East division, four points behind undefeated Lord Tweedsmuir.

The Centaurs defeated Abbotsford, 42-8, last Wednesday at Percy Perry Stadium, while the Ravens are coming off a 28-21 win over the New Westminster Hyacks last Thursday in New Westminster.
