The City of Coquitlam boasts an impressive list of accomplishments, one being that they have been named one of BC's Top Employers for two years in a row. Now, the City is hoping that those thinking about making a career move consider Coquitlam, due to the wide number of positions currently available, in a variety of fields.

"We are thrilled to highlight the immense amount of opportunity in our organization," says Nikki Caulfield, who is the Director of Human Resources and Corporate Planning for the City of Coquitlam. She says there are lots of reasons to consider working at the City.

"We have a strong but fun corporate culture, with lots of opportunity for personal career growth and development," Caulfield says. She adds that something she personally enjoys about the job is her ability to make a difference in the lives of those around her. "When you're a part of municipal government, you get to be a part of direct change on the ground in the community."

Not only that, but Caulfield says that due to strong growth within the community, opportunities are booming for everyone. "The City has such a range of responsibilities and services that we provide for the community, and we need great people for these roles," Caulfield says. "We have positions to fit all lifestyles and skill sets."

She notes that throughout the year the City is hiring in just about every department. "From pools to parks, administrative and clerical to professional positions. We need senior leaders, accountants and engineers. We've even got summer opportunities for students. So our diversity of employment is great."

Caulfield says that outside of work hours, the City of Coquitlam has a lot to offer. "We have a great outdoor scene. There are hiking and biking trails, excellent community festivals and events, restaurants and shops, lots of opportunities for activity." She also points to the central location of the Skytrain as another reason to consider Coquitlam.

Overall, Caulfield cannot say enough good things about her home and employer.

"I love working here, I think it provides a meaningful opportunity to give back to my city. I work close to home and can make an impact on the local community."
