By engaging a child’s natural inquisitive nature, Urban Academy is changing education for students.

At the private school that prides itself on its innovative approach and real-world connections, Urban Academy enables its students to take initiative in their own learning. This integrative approach encourages students to ask questions to discover the answers for themselves and share their ideas.

Recognizing that young minds are guided by different interests and that they benefit through various ways of learning, this approach strengthens the students’ ability - and desire - to learn. In fact, this approach to encourages students to also develop long term workplace assets like critical thinking, working as a team and problem-solving skills, which are all essential in our changing world.

With a new campus opening in the fall of 2018, Urban Academy will transform the way children are learning to better prepare them for post-secondary education, and for life afterwards. Classrooms will have intimate class sizes of less than 20 students to promote collaboration, and allow for teachers to really get to know their students. Labs will be equipped with a wide range of current technology to facilitate this integrative approach to learning. It will be like no other school in the Lower Mainland. Some of the state-of-the-art facilities include the brand new performing arts theatre, the well-planned multimedia centre, and the seven outdoor spaces, some of which will be used for community gardening.

With the option of before and after out of school care, Urban Academy is also one of the most convenient options for families in the Lower Mainland. With the new campus located near the Braid Sky-Train station in New Westminster, it is just a short distance away for families living in Burnaby, the Tri-Cities, and New Westminster. Additionally, it is also offers a wide variety of co-curricular and extra curricular options from outdoor education to STEM, Drama and Community Service clubs just to name a few. Coupled with a 100 per cent post-secondary acceptance rate, Urban Academy is the school you wish your children could go to – and now, they can.
