Dr. Jane Wang has spent the past four decades treating pain using a traditional Chinese medical practice. Devoting forty years to studying, teaching, and practicing acupuncture was an easy decision for Dr. Wang after she witnessed the extraordinary effect of this ancient healing technique early in life.

With its origins stretching back to later than 6000 BCE, acupuncture is one of the world’s oldest medical practices. Used widely on a global scale to alleviate pain caused by a variety of conditions, this form of traditional Chinese medicine consists of inserting fine needles into specific areas of the body to stimulate sensory nerves under skin and in muscles.

Though it may seem like sticking needles into your body like a pushpin is not the best way to treat pain, millennia of alleviated, and even healed, patients embedded into a rich history of medicine spanning the globe should change your mind otherwise.

In her many years of practice in Taiwan, California, and Coquitlam, Dr. Wang has kept a proud record in helping people with many problems. Whether it is used for preventative measures or to keep recurring pain at bay, Jane’s Acupuncture Clinic sees all different types of problems, some, even, with unknown causes. “When general physicians don’t know how to treat unknown symptoms, they usually refer their patients to us,” Dr. Wang said. “We’re often their last resort.”

It is no wonder other medical practitioners put their trust in Dr. Wang; her history of studying and teaching acupuncture is impressive by any account. Beginning her long career with acupuncture with the famed Dr. M.K. Tseng, a renowned acupuncturist in Taipei, Dr. Wang took to California to further her studies at the Asian American Acupuncture University. As a licensed acupuncturist by the state of California, Dr. Wang practiced in San Diego until 1986. While in California, Jane was awarded as a distinguished member by the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce. She returned to Taiwan to practice and teach acupuncture at the University of Chinese Culture until 1994, when she came to Vancouver with her family and settled down in Coquitlam. Since then, her established practice continues to serve its community by treating and healing pain one patient at a time.
