The Editor,

On April 16, my wife and I parked on Dominion Avenue in Port Coquitlam and proceeded to walk towards the Traboulay PoCo Trail. We were immediately approached by a woman with three dogs none were leashed or licensed.

We continued our walk down to the boat launch at the De Boville Slough and back. During that time, we encountered several people walking dogs 21 dogs in total, 19 not on a leash, only two licensed. Some of the dogs were somewhat under control walking with their owners but many were running free, well removed from their owners and not under any sort of immediate control.

Over the many years of walking that area of the PoCo Trail, we have noticed an increase of dogs off leash and unlicensed but never have seen a bylaw officer enforcing the laws along the trail.

Perhaps it's time for a show of enforcement.

A. Williams, Port Coquitlam
