It will be Chabot’s first run for political office.

“I’ve witnessed many changes throughout the riding over the last 30-plus years and I’m looking forward to each and every conversation, whether it be via email, phone or my personal favourite: door-knocking,” Chabot said in a press release this week.

Also on the ballot aiming to replace retiring MP Fin Donnelly will be Coquitlam Coun. Bonita Zarrillo, who's running for the NDP, Sara Badiei (Liberals), Nelly Shin (Conservatives) and Bryce Watts (Green).

In the Tri-Cities' other riding, Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam, Liberal incumbent MP Ron McKinnon is up against Christina Gower (NDP), Nicholas Insley (Conservatives), Brad Nickason (Green) and Brian Misera (PCC).

The federal election will be held Oct. 21.
