Coquitlam pianist scores silver, cash at national competition

A Coquitlam musician scored second place in a prestigious piano contest last month.

Hamilton Lau took the award and $5,000 in the Shean Piano Competition, held May 20 and 21 in Edmonton.

The winner was Jaeden Izik-Dzurko, 23, of Salmon Arm.

Lau also won the $1,000 Paul J. Bourret Memorial Award for Best Performance of the Test Piece.
