Everybody cut 'Footloose' for this Coquitlam theatre group's 40th year

Stage 43 opens Footloose the Musical next Thursday (Oct. 13) with local residents Jill Menkveld and Océanne Trudel at the helm.

A Coquitlam theatrical troupe will kick off its 40th year this month with a dancing favourite.

Stage 43 opens Footloose the Musical at Coquitlam’s Evergreen Cultural Centre next Thursday (Oct. 13) under the direction of Tri-City residents Jill Menkveld and Océanne Trudel.

Based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford for the 1984 movie starring Kevin Bacon, Footloose tells the tale of Ren, a Grade 12 student who has moved from Chicago to a small farming town.

For Stage 43's production, Nikola Trotzuk takes on the lead role while Kimberly Hornaday portrays Ariel Moore and Jesse Redmond plays Rev. Shaw Moore.

Lisa Pope is the musical director and Riley Langford is the choreographer.

For tickets to Footloose, which runs Oct. 13 to 22 at the Evergreen (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam), you can call the box office at 604-927-6555 or visit Stage 43's website.

A 3 p.m. matinee is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 16 and, on Oct. 19, Stage 43 is offering a special two-for-one pricing on single, adult-priced tickets (use the discount code DANCE).

The 2022–23 season also includes Calendar Girls in January and God of Carnage in April and May.
