Get writing tips from a well-known grammarian at this Coquitlam workshop

Spice up your sentences with grammarian Frances Peck, who is the guest speaker at the Tri-City Wordsmiths' meeting on Saturday.

A writing session in Coquitlam this weekend could sharpen your skills for career and everyday life.

Grammarian Frances Peck is the guest speaker at the Tri-City Wordsmiths' meeting on Saturday (June 4), and the public is invited to attend as she's is set to teach tricks of the trade that could ultimately spice up your sentences.

The writer, editor and educator will discuss "Sentences With Style" during her presentation — both virtually and in-person.

"What exactly happens when you rearrange a sentence, and suddenly it’s sharper and stronger?" the session's description asks.

"The study of syntax (word order) may have gone the way of foolscap and fountain pens, but it has a lot to teach us about clarity, emphasis and rhythm."

Peck will be hosting her free course on Saturday, 2 p.m. at the City Centre branch of the Coquitlam Public Library — located at 1169 Pinetree Way.

For more information and questions, you can visit the Tri-City Wordsmiths' website.

If you wish to attend virtually, you're asked to register for a Zoom link by emailing the organization directly: tri.city.wordsmiths@gmail.com.
