A dance organization that's hosted Salsa Nights at Evergreen Cultural Centre for years will move its Saturday night party outside of Coquitlam.

Starting in September, the Hot Salsa Dance Zone will have its gatherings at the Port Coquitlam legion branch (2675 Shaughnessy St.), as well as at the Port Moody legion branch (2529 Clarke St.).

The PoCo nights are twice a month, beginning Sept. 10 and Sept. 17, while the PoMo event opens Sept. 24; both venues are air conditioned, licensed and offer free parking.

The change comes after Evergreen cancelled the company's rental contract for the rehearsal hall, where the dance parties took place.

“Our mission is to continue bringing the best Latin American music, culture, and entertainment to all the community of the Tri-Cities,” said Hot Salsa founder Alberto Gonzalez, who instructs dance with Teresa Szefler.

"After 14 years celebrating Salsa and Latin American music, culture and dancing at the Evergreen Cultural Centre, we would like to thank all our loyal students, Salsa and music aficionados, and family and friends for your immense support over the years, making Salsa and Latin Dance Nights one of the biggest attractions in the Tri-Cities area, and making an impact in the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley.”
