Tri-City actors in 'humanity' plays at Douglas College

Two Tri-City student actors appear in Douglas College’s new theatrical production that runs this week.

The virtual show — a series of six short plays — includes Eve Jackson from Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam resident Grace Allard.

Penned by David Ives, Mere Mortals and Others touches on themes of humanity, transformation, identity and time in a comedic way.

“The plays are about people trying to figure things out when the world goes bizarre on them,” director Kathleen Duborg said in a news release. “They are fun and short, and also very weird. David Ives has an interest in philosophical and scientific theories, such as string theory and existentialism, and this comes across in his writing.”

Presented by the departments of Theatre and Stagecraft & Event Technology, the show is live-streamed via Zoom on March 16 at 7:30 p.m., and March 17 and 18 at 1 p.m. with talkbacks with the cast and crew for the matinee performances.
