Port Moody's new Brave Brewing Company hopes to inspire acts of courage to build its brand.

Port Moody’s Brewers Row is getting a new brewery.

But it's not another brewery.

Rather, Brave Brewing Company is the new identity for the former Bakery Brewing (2617 Murray St.) that announced in September its new owners would rebrand. The brewery has remained open during the transition.

According to Brave's website, the rechristened business will craft classic beers hopped with passion.

"Bravery comes in all shapes and sizes," says a statement on the website. "Being vulnerable is the bravest act to commit."

So far, the brewery's launch beers include:

  • First Date, a hazy IPA
  • Grace Under Pressure, a lager
  • Last One Standing, an amber lager

Brave is also soliciting testimonies of courage to help fuel its brand and perhaps inspire further acts of bravery.

"We want to hear about everyday stories of bravery," says the brewery, adding those acts can be large, or as small as accomplishing a lifelong goal.

"Braver grows with inspiration."

Stories that are featured at the brewery will be reciprocated with a donation to a charity or organization of the contributor’s choice.

Brave is the sixth brewery on Port Moody’s Brewers Row that stretches along Murray Street, near Rocky Point Park, neighbouring:

  • Moody Ales
  • Parkside
  • Yellow Dog
  • Twin Sails
  • Rewind

The latter just joined the contingent in September, offering customers a neon-lit time travel trip back to the 1980s complete with music videos from the era playing on monitors mounted above the tasting room, and a menu board modelled after the marquee at the old Eagle Ridge Cinema in Coquitlam.

Brave is hosting a grand opening party on the weekend of Nov. 25, with live music and food.
