Health workers prepare for a massive drive-through vaccine clinic at the Coquitlam Park and Ride.

Fraser Health is booking vaccination times this week for older Tri-City seniors — and it’s revealing the locations for public clinics for COVID-19 immunizations.

At a press conference Sunday, the health authority’s president and CEO Dr. Victoria Lee said Phase 2 of the province’s vaccination plan is underway.

Fraser Health has the capacity to immunize more than 9,000 people per day to meet the demand of this phase and is “well underway” in planning to deliver more than 23,000 immunizations a day for Phase 3.

Currently, the health authority, which stretches from Burnaby to Boston Bar and includes Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, has approximately 1,600 immunizers to call on for daily needs.

Currently, there are two vaccine clinics set for the Tri-Cities: at Douglas College on Pinetree Way and at the Coquitlam park-and-ride site off Mariner Way — a location that has been used as a coronavirus testing centre for months.

Additional clinics in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, North Delta, South Surrey, Surrey (Cloverdale), Langley and Chilliwack will soon open. To book an appointment, call 1-855-755-2455 or go online at fraserhealth.ca/vaccinebooking.

Here’s how Phase 2 of the vaccination program — with a focus on seniors ages 80 years and older — will work:

• March 8: book for appointments starting March 15 for seniors ages 90 years and older (born in 1931 or earlier); Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) people ages 65 years and older (born in 1956 or earlier); and Indigenous elders

• March 15: book for appointments starting March 22 for seniors ages 85 years and older (born in 1936 or earlier)

• March 22: book for appointments starting March 29 for seniors ages 80 years and older (born in 1941 or earlier)

Phase 3 starts in April, when vaccination of the general population begins.

The order in which people get vaccinated is according to age; it will start with 79 year olds and work down in five-year increments, to 18.
