A 33-year-old Coquitlam man has been charged in a fatal collision that claimed the life of one person and sent two to hospital.

Aristotle Lagace has been charged with four offences for his part in a crash that occurred on the evening of May 23, 2019, when a grey SUV and a black Dodge Durango collided near the intersection of Schoolhouse Road and Lucille Star Drive.

Coquitlam RCMP’s Criminal Crash Investigation team later found evidence that Lagace was “well in excess of the legal limit,” according to a police press release.

Coquitlam RCMP spokesperson Const. Deanna Law said in a written statement that “these are tough investigations” but that charges were eventually approved by the BC Protection Service on March 18, 2021.

Legace has been charged with the impaired operation of a conveyance causing death and the impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, among other charges.
