With classes to resume the week of Sept. 5, TransLink is posting changes to its seasonal bus routes — including in Coquitlam.

Service adjustments are being made on 54 bus routes across the region order to best allocate bus service to meet customer demand, TransLink says in a news release.

While some routes will have service increases at busier times of the day, others will see reductions during periods of lower demand.

The changes will officially take effect on Labour Day Monday (Sept. 4).

What's happening to bus service this fall?

TransLink is increasing service on routes serving post-secondary institutions and rolling back seasonal service to popular summer destinations.

  • Service is being increased on four routes serving UBC, Simon Fraser University (SFU) and Capilano University

Transit service changes occur every January, April, June, and September based on seasonal patterns and recent trends in customer demand.

"As our region continues to experience rapid population growth, these service changes will help ensure accessible and efficient public transit in communities across Metro Vancouver," stated Kevin Quinn, CEO of TransLink, in the release.

"They will also enable us to serve more neighbourhoods and connect residents to key destinations, such as business hubs and post-secondary schools."
