Cash only at this Coquitlam bookstore giant. Here's why

A cybersecurity incident has temporarily shut down online transactions at Chapters in Pinetree Village.

Book, gift and home decor shoppers will need to pay cash in Coquitlam's largest bookstore because of a cybersecurity incident.

Indigo Books & Music Inc. says it is dealing with what it calls a "cybersecurity incident" that has affected customer orders in-store and online.

As of this morning (Feb. 9), Indigo's website was still offline.

A message on the website states that cash will be accepted at stores, which include the Coquitlam Chapters-Indigo store at Pinetree Village.

"We experienced a cybersecurity incident earlier today and are working with third-party experts to investigate and resolve the situation. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may create for our valuable customers," the message states.

"Our hope is to have our systems back online as soon as possible. In the interim, our website will remain unavailable.

"At this time, we look forward to welcoming customers in our stores for cash transactions; we are temporarily unable to process electronic payments, or to accept gift cards or returns.

"We appreciate your patience as we work hard to resolve this issue.

"We commit to updating our customers as more information becomes available."

Indigo offers a wide selection of books, gifts and home decor both in person and online.

The Coquitlam store is located at unit 38-2991 Lougheed Hwy. and opens daily at 10 a.m.
