Coquitlam job fair can help turn passions into paycheques

The job fair will be at the Pinetree Community Centre next weekend, March 8 and 9.
The City of Coquitlam is hosting a job fair to fill positions like fitness instructors.

An upcoming job fair could help you turn your passion for recreational activities into a paycheque.

On March 8, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 9, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., City of Coquitlam staff working in parks, recreation, culture and human resources will be at the Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way) to provide information about current or upcoming positions.

They'll also help potential applicants through the online application process and share tips to make applications rise above the rest.

The city, according to a news release, is looking to fill positions in its parks, recreation and culture division as well as part-time and auxiliary opportunities.

This includes:

  • recreation instructors
  • supervisors
  • lifeguards
  • fitness staff
  • leads for children and youth programs
  • event staff

Coquitlam was recently named one of B.C.'s top employers.

It’s recognized for its benefits programs that include support for employees’ mental and physical well-being as well as a free fitness pass for non-instructional and drop-in activities like swimming, skating and the weight room.
