Sparks flying off a vehicle wheel.

A 26-year-old man who allegedly drove his truck with one of its tires off was arrested by Coquitlam Mounties early Saturday, March 23, for dangerous driving.

Police say they were called around 5:15 a.m. about a black Dodge Ram truck travelling quickly — with a tire missing, and causing noise and sparks to fly — as it drove on a rim northbound on Pinetree Way, in the City Centre neighbourhood.

Police stopped the vehicle near Pipeline Road, by Windsor Gate, after it turned east on Lincoln Avenue.

“The incident is currently under investigation and police are asking anyone who witnessed this incident, or if you may have dash-cam or cellphone video between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, within the Coquitlam City Centre area, to please contact Coquitlam RCMP,” the detachment stated in a news release issued today, March 25.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2024-7266.
